I have a Sony HD camcorder, and have a lot of HD video on various hard drives, but I’d like to burn some to blu-ray disks. I just bought a lite-on blu-ray burner, and was able to burn jpg’s to a blu-ray disk from iPhoto, so I know that works, but can’t figure out how to get true HD content onto a DVD. I’m using an Intel core 2 duo mac mini, and have iMovie 6 and iDVD 6.

| This is not a Blu Ray Burner. This will play Blu Ray Discs once the Power DVD software is updated. This is the second drive I've purchased from Power Optical. And each time it seemd that the wording of the discription of the drives changed after I purchased them. I will not be ordering from Power Optical again. |

| I was decived by the description of the player. If you buy this player be aware that it is NOT a true BD player. It will not play commercial blu ray DvD. It will play regular DvDs and will burn on to blu ray but it will not play any of your favorite blu ray DvDs. I do not recomend this product! |

| I have used a "Home Theater PC" for a few years, and avoided buying a standalone HD-DVD player or blu-ray disc player because I expected the HTPC to perform those duties with a suitable drive. The Pioneer BDC-2202 is that drive, for blu-ray playback. It does everything the specs claim, and that's all I hoped for. If you have an HTPC hooked up to a high-def television monitor, this is a great way to get blu-ray playback. |

Pioneer has always made great products in their higher end, this is one of them. Better value than other brands. Worked right out of the box.
Booted the Vista disc right away, no problems with SATA compatibilty on my ASUS HDMI Micro ATX board. Their site said it was compatible with ICH9
chipset and many more. Played Blu-Ray movies flawless, with CyberLink Ultra, on many movies including the Newer Blu-Rays. Must have Vista and Direct X10 video card, HDCP monitor, to player Blu-Ray Movies among Cpu and ram as well, do your research before builing your PC. |

| Make sure this device is compatible with your computer BIOS before you buy it. The Serial ATA connection is fast but required a tweak to a setting or two to be recognized. |

Good Blu-Ray Burner, But ...

| I discovered that this drive has "compatibility issues" with some 2x blank 25gb BD-R disks. And, it was for this reason that I returned it to the seller. Although, I did not keep the drive long enough to verify this, I was told by at least one diskette manufacturer (TW-USA) that this drive has no problem burning its 4x blu-ray media, but just will not work with its 2x BD-R disks. Since I am very frugal (skin-flintish) about my media purchases, this was a "deal breaker" for me with this drive! |
